The words we speak can ignite a fire,
full of passion and desire.
A soft caress upon your cheek,
a sound of sweet melody as you speak.
Gentle, loving, and encouraging you to see,
words that truly believe in me.
My heart is full of love and grace,
a fire inside, this most sacred place.
But then the mind starts to awake,
its words are not of love but of hate.
It calls me names penetrating deep within.
It reminds me of all those moments of my sin.
It tells me I'm not good enough,
there is no way you can be that tough.
The old me would have backed down and cried,
but the new me has a fire inside.
Oh mind you will not win today,
I set your words free and send them away.
I know of my worth, and claim back my power,
I will no longer hide inside and cower.
I now stand tall, and speak from the heart,
and the words it will say will ignite that spark.
I can now clearly see all the lies you spoke,
the stories told in darkness cloaked.
But they are now in the light you see,
and I am no longer afraid of what used to be.
The future is mine to do as I please,
to use the words to heal and let them flow with ease.
The words that I speak will be gentle and kind,
I choose to speak from the heart and not the mental mind.
Today I tell myself words anew,
today I look in the mirror and say, "I love you."

"The patterns of the past, oh they bind!
Their memories heavy on my mind.
This is the way it's always been done!
Why would you unravel it? You should tell no one!
Why drag up memories from the past?
The hurt, the shame, the thoughts that last!
Why would you travel down so deep,
hearing the ancestors as you sleep?"
Because I promised to be the one.
I vowed to lift my face to the sun.
To stop the patterns & break the chains.
To heal myself, and reap the gains.
To free the soul from carrying those burdens.
To let love reign free - and of this I'm certain,
The power of love can conquer it all!
The power of love tore down my walls.
My heart is wide open for the world to see.
The patterns of the past - they end with me!"
- Lisa Richard
Ideas come, and ideas go,
As the builder faces woes.
The design is just not the way I want it to be,
It needs to be perfect before the world can see.
For what if they judge and begin to laugh?
What if I fail, stumble and crash?
Oh what a laughing stock I would be,
Maybe I just don’t have what it takes to succeed.
The creator chuckles and whispers in my ear,
"Close your eyes for a moment, and go inside my dear.”
Look into your heart, tell me what you find,
Can you see the spark? That connection to the Divine?
Anything is possible with that you see,
It’s a gift to you from me.
Use it wisely and use it with care,
Let it inspire, and if you should dare.
Tell others of it’s potential, oh and one more thing,
Always remember that thoughts become things.
If you think that you can’t, or your scared to even try,
Than the potential of that creation has already died.
But what if for a moment instead you believed?
You turned those thoughts into ideas and didn’t have to grieve?
You found the courage to just simply try,
you opened those wings and started to fly.
You ignited the spark and created a fire,
a passion a flame full of desire.
Don’t let those dreams die or worry what others think,
Don’t let judgement and ridicule cause you to sink.
This is your life and only you can create,
Don’t ever give up, that would be a mistake.
You are worthy of this journey, of the happiness you seek,
abundance is there for you, go take a peek.
Take a deep breath, a step forward and begin,
Let that beauty of creation shine from within.

The enthusiasm of my soul,
Shines a light wherever I go,
Penetrating the shadows of that fear,
Sending it far away from here.
A laughter starts to form within,
Breaking the surface I start to grin,
Did I really think that was so scary?
This laughter is certainly making me merry!
Oh mind, you were once again up to your tricks!
But I’m on to you now, so you better be quick!
My footsteps lighter, my head held high,
Watch out world I’m about to fly!
From a higher perspective, I can now truly see,
That the fear inside was really just me.
Afraid of my shadow, of that light within
Afraid of being judge or condemned as sin,
But truly this light cannot be so bad,
Truly this gift was always to be had.
It no longer matters what they will say,
As this treasure inside is coming out to play!
The enthusiasm is building and the joy cannot hide,
The fear better run now cause I’m on its side!”

This morning I awoke to a sense of acceptance for who I am and the spiritual gifts I am awakening to. The journey here has not been easy and I have just emerged from a place of deep healing yet again.
Last night I was drawn to place a piece of rose quartz in my hand, where it still remained the next morning, grasped tightly in my grip, reminding me that this journey I am on is worth every tear.
I had been drowning for days in a sea of despair, lost in the emotional memories of all the times in my life that my words or actions had indirectly caused another to react differently then I had ever intended. I became aware, that in those moments of loving truth or of needing to let someone go for my own emotional well-being, that I was still holding onto their pain and their story. Today, I understand that my words and actions came from a place of love and that if it happened to trigger a response from the recipient that set them along on their own healing journey, then certainly the guides knew exactly what they were doing in using me as a messenger to relay just what was needed to elicit that response.
When we surrender over to a higher power to become messengers of love and light, we release the ego self from getting involved. What took me a while to understand is that the messages we deliver are meant for our ears as well. As we allow the healing to flow through us to another, it also heals us along the journey. We are downloaded with the information simply because it aligns with our own healing journey, for that is truly what we are all here in this lifetime to do. We are simply here to heal, and become stronger versions of ourselves. To remember that perfect essence within each of us, before we started to believe that we were damaged.
Life challenges us to make decisions daily if not hourly, and as humans we don’t always make the best choices. Those times allow us however, to grow in our awareness, to humble ourselves in asking for forgiveness, and to strengthen our resolve to rise above the negative energy. We have a choice in this lifetime to either sit in the negative, complain about everything and everyone, seeing ourselves as a victim and the world as against us. We can sit in the pain and suffering of how others react to what we may do, say, or offer when we are merely speaking our truth, or we can close our eyes, breath deep and offer thanks for the lesson. Thank you for the opportunity to heal, for the strength and support I needed to rise above and see things in a new light.
Never be afraid to be who you are and share your gifts with the world. Don’t dull your light for fear of overshadowing another or drawing too much attention to yourself. Rather, embrace your gifts, your uniqueness and inner beauty, and be a reminder to others of the light we all have within.
In accepting who you are and accepting others for their own uniqueness, the world becomes just that much brighter. Will you allow yourself to emerge and be seen?
Lots of Love,
Yesterday, April 5th I shared a post on my Facebook business page announcing that I had completed 104 days of gratitude using the Word Oracle Alchemy System created by Lisa Starr Francis. Why this system? Well apart from the beauty of the imagery and unlimited ways that you can adapt this system to work for you, my journey started as simply as understanding that words carry meaning unique to each of us, and our physical body is affected through holding onto the emotions stored within these words based on our life experiences, conditioning, and understanding.
I started this journey of 104 days of gratitude to move past my own limiting mind set that ‘star’ could appear beside the name ‘Lisa’, my own name. You see as simple as the word ‘star’ is, for me it had multiple meanings and when I saw it placed beside my name it instantly created a physical sensation of discomfort, for who am I to shine? I had absolutely no issues with any other Lisa’s or any other name having star placed beside it, but for whatever reason I just could not see myself with ‘star’ attached.
Each one of us have those limiting beliefs where we convince ourselves that something is impossible, we are undeserving, or that dream is just too far out of our reach. We may have been raised to not draw attention to ourselves, to not brag/boast or hog the spotlight, and to always put others first. Many of us hold onto strong ethics and values of compassion, love and kindness for all and these should continue to be honoured at all times. We strive to live a life of service and to always try our best. We believe in equality for all regardless of race, color, ethnic background, religion, or sex and stand firm in our faith.
That is where I need to pause and reflect, as there was one very strong word in that previous sentence that we often overlook, ‘equality’.
Equality is defined in the dictionary as “the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.” Equality connects us all as humans, and yes that includes you and I. It causes us to really stop and consider “am I valuing myself and my needs as much as I value another? Am I treating myself with the same love, kindness and encouragement as I would another?"
The word “equality” reminds us that we are part of humanity, not separate from it. That our needs are just as important as another’s, and that taking time for ourselves, or asking another for help is equally important. As caregivers, nurturers and compassionate humans we forget that we must fill up our own cup and let it overflow before we can reach out and help fill up another’s. If we don’t, we simply become depleted overtime until we reach that place of exhaustion, sadness and lose hope.
Faith and love is what centers us back and enfolds us into that collective definition of equality. For you see, the world stage is large enough to support all of our dreams and ambitions when it aligns with our highest good. The universe needs you to shine, become your own star and share your beautiful gifts with the world. Faith reminds you to place your trust in a higher power to watch over us all and encourages you to take this current time of pause to go deep within and nurture your soul. Take the opportunity during this period of physical distancing to tune inside yourself, rediscover your dreams, goals and ambitions. Allow yourself the time to revisit some of those old stories and limiting beliefs and begin to question their validity. Does the story you’ve been telling yourself over and over have other view points and angles that you can look through to re-examine it? If someone told you when you were a child, teen or adult that you couldn’t achieve your dreams – do they really have the power, ability and control to determine the course of your life?
I believe very strongly that each of us determine and create how we want to show up in this world and choose the legacy we leave behind. These dreams may face challenges along the way to demonstrate to us that we have the ability to overcome obstacles, and to strengthen both our skill set and determination.
I am determined to continue my journey towards becoming a rising star, strengthening my faith and worthiness to share my gifts with others, and invite you to travel this journey with me as you commit to honouring yourself and your dreams. Today, April 6th is an opportunity to start 104 days of gratitude again with The Word Alchemist as Lisa Starr Francis’s dedication and commitment to not giving up on her dreams means that she has diligently shared her cards, messages and videos for us all to continue this journey. Her commitment to herself means that those who are drawn to her page now get to benefit from the healing power within this system as we honour ourselves to dedicate some time each day to pause, draw out those words and images, and then share the messages that resonate.
This next 104 days of gratitude starts back on Jan 2, 2020, and allows us to scroll purposely backwards in time to re-examine our personal journey thus far. When we close our eyes to choose the word(s) and colors that we need to examine for the day, we are gifted with an opportunity to be our own alchemist and change our story, one word at a time. You are worth this beautiful journey, and I hope you join me in learning to become your own rising star by liking Lisa Starr Francis’s Facebook page and committing the next 104 days to living of life of gratitude and understanding that you are in charge of creating your destiny.
Day 1 (Jan 02, 2020) starts with a beautiful video as Lisa explains the system and how it works. The full image and words are available above for you to reflect on your own message and then share within the comments of Lisa Starr Francis’s video. And yes, you have to scroll down the page, after all it is your journey and only you have the means to change yourself. The universe is cheering you on - go for it!
Lots of Love,
As the days start to trickle into weeks and the awareness of the Coronavirus grows larger and larger it can become easy to lose hope and succumb to the fear.
Fear is a basic response to the need to survive as a species. It is what warned our ancestors when danger was coming and they needed to run, hide and protect themselves. It was a time of self preservation to gather what you could for yourself and your family to help bring you through the crisis.
Thankfully we have learned a lot from our ancestors and their resourcefulness. We understand the need to change our routines and the need to adapt to the world around us. We learned that as difficult as the challenges they faced were at the time, that it did eventually pass by and a new future was embraced.
Awareness of past viruses greatly aided in medical research, and over time resulted in the creation of vaccines and a world movement to educate and provide opportunities for billions to receive care. Countries came together to distribute, fundraise and provide aid to other countries that needed assistance. It strengthened a sense of community around the world as we moved from individual preservation to community and then global.
In this day and age of technology we have the world at a click of the button. An opportunity to share, reach out, gather, unite and ask for help and assistance. There is no longer a need to hide yourself away, stockpiling what you can in excess of what has been recommended by your government leaders for emergency preparedness.
I have watched with pride in my heart as communities are standing together in solidarity as they hold vigils for front line workers, donate desperately needed medical supplies, donate food, and send messages of encouragement, gratitude and blessings.
I watch as businesses adjusting to reduced hours, and new business practices are focusing on employee and consumer safety instead of profit, donating their time and resources to help in any way they can. Employees and consumers alike are looking each other in the eye, and truly seeing the other person, acknowledging and asking, “how are you?”
I’ve witnessed workers who are now laid off share valuable information with others as to the resources available through their provincial government, and other resources they have found to help ease the financial and emotional stress. They are stepping up to adapt to the temporary setback knowing that it’s out of their hands and focusing instead on being of service, and looking for solutions.
I’m witnessing parents truly teach their children what it means to get through a crisis by taking the time to explain at their level of understanding why they can’t go out and play with their friends, go to daycare, school or the playground. I’ve heard so many beautiful stories of parents explaining to their children that this is temporary and important for the health and well-being of all. These parents are sharing compassion, understanding, and helping their children move beyond seeing themselves as individuals and instead seeing themselves as one with the world. Our children are like sponges watching and absorbing how the adults in their lives are responding, creating a beautiful opportunity for parents to reinforce strong values.
I’ve watch children display amazing acts of kindness through their artwork and messages displayed in windows within their homes, hanging on fences, and posted on social media. Making heartfelt crafts, thank you cards and other objects to express their gratitude. And even though these items can’t be physically sent to the intended recipient, they have experienced the joy in creating and can hold on to those feelings of gratitude every time they see their creation.
I’ve stood in awe as teachers, caregivers and so many others diligently work to provide the highest levels of education and persevere through learning new technology, as they are unwilling to give up, and remain focused on solution based thinking.
Countless others are reaching out to friends and neighbours, checking in and coming up with innovative ways to communicate and let others know if help is needed.
There are so many rays of hope beaming around all of us as we focus on what the community, the local government and the world is doing to support each other. These few items noted above came pouring forth in a matter of minutes by looking through the local paper, checking my social media feeds, and chatting with friends. Each one of these ideas was inspired through individuals and teams coming together, and as each new inspiration and ray of hope was shared, others were drawn into the light and inspired to assist or create additional ways to lend a hand.
We all have the ability to be a leader and choose hope over fear – solutions over problems.
Be that ray of hope, shine it bright and shine it far!
Lots of love,
Last night I was an emotional mess as I struggled and succumbed to all my human emotions of feeling like I am not doing enough as a healer during these challenging times.
In my meditations I have been searching for more, praying for a bigger calling, a way to make an impact and help others. But yet no matter how hard I search there is no great quest assigned, no brilliant flashes of light or increased access to knowledge, there is just the gentle reminder to keep “holding space.”
Holding space is a reminder that we cannot fix or save anyone or anything. It is an act of being calm, to be still, breathe and allow life to flow in and out without getting caught up in the emotions or drama. It’s an act of connecting with one’s heart to send out a vibration of love, support and healing, while trusting and having faith in a higher power to do the work and pull us through.
Why is it so hard to seemingly do nothing? To hold space is actually a very difficult state to achieve, especially with the world in a current state of fear, adjusting to physical distancing, and instinctively turning to the old survival method of fight or flight brain. To “just” hold space in the midst of energy that is starting to feel as dense as pea soup kind of shines a different light on the truth of holding space.
This job becomes increasingly important, and asks that we not allow our personal energy to feed the collective with more fear and anxiety, but rather to counter attack with the vibration of calm, healing, and love. To clear a way through the dense pea soup and remind others that there is always hope and we will get through this together.
We are asked to ride through the storm as a casual observer, to send out through our energy vibration, support and trust that the knowledge exists within humanity and has been entrusted to those dedicated to study its cause and effect, and destined to find a cure. It’s pausing as a collective to hold space and send encouragement, trust and support to allow those meant to do such incredible work the boost to keep trying, to share knowledge with each other, and listen for the clarity of thought.
It’s our job to hold space for our family, friends, neighbours, and communities. To take time to breathe, to share resources, reach out and lend a hand. It’s a gift of time to perhaps work on a household project, decrease the amount of clutter, read a good book, tackle an item on that to-do list, and to allow ourselves to really focus on what matters. Take what you need in terms of resources, and only what you need. Get outside and breathe in the fresh air. Pause and listen to the sounds of life out in nature. Feel the breeze and sun on your skin. Be still and savour a sunrise or sunset.
My perspective has changed in the clarity of a new day, and I am honored to be asked to hold space. I lift up my heart and hands in gratitude to be of service, and vow to try my best to remain calm and centered. I place my trust and faith in a higher power to pull us all through, and add the rhythm of my own heart beat to pulse out love into the world. I commit to taking time to focus on my own health and well-being, and to reach out and lend a hand to another during this time.
We all have this ability to hold space. An important job and one that truly makes a difference in creating a ripple effect of love, trust and faith. I hope you answer the call as well, as we all join together spiritually to form a circle around the world.
We are all in this together, and together we shall pull through.
Lots of love,
Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

Today is the first “Super” full moon of 2020, named so due to its closeness to the earth causing the moon to appear larger in the sky. In truth, the size of the moon doesn’t change, its our perception of seeing something closer up that makes us feel that its within reach and draws in our attention.
This full moon is residing in Virgo and is centered around the need for health and well-being in our lives. Topics that most of us understand are of the upmost importance, but are also the first to fall to the sidelines as we continue to take care of everyone else and fall victim to being busy with just being busy. We live in such a fast paced society, where everything is in constant motion. Rushing from point A to point B, jumping from project to project, trying to multitask in order to fit everything in that we have convinced ourselves need to be completed.
But does everything need to be completed right now? Do you truly need to do everything by yourself?
I have been fiercely independent the majority of my life, some may even classify it as stubborn, as I insisted on handling everything myself, of tackling the responsibilities of a marriage, parenthood, a career, personal growth and education. I rarely paused to ask for help, or to even become aware of the frustration of those around me who could see my exhaustion along with that refusal to accept help.
For years, I allowed myself to drown in all the responsibilities that I had convinced myself were mine to bare and mine alone. I was conditioned to believe that as a women I needed to keep the house clean, dinner on the table, look after the children, their extracurricular activities, homework, and behaviour. I was living under the illusion that I had to prove myself as competent in the role of spouse and parent. That I had to earn love. In truth, I was living a life where I had very little faith in myself. I suffered from a very low self esteem, not knowing where I fit in, trying to prove my worth, trying to prove that I was lovable. I was living in a self created prison, drowning in a sea of emotions and not understanding that surrounding the sea was a beautiful support network and opportunities for me to rest and recharge.
In learning to plant seeds of faith, I started to understand the importance of asking for help and placing responsibility back into the hands of others. I learned to become the person that empowers and teaches, instead of being an enabler of bad behaviour. I understood that actions speak way louder than words, so if I wanted my children to look after their own needs, health and wellness, than I had better be reflecting that back to them.
When I learned to value myself and place self-care at the top of the priority list my whole demeanor changed. Taking time to attend yoga classes provided that perfect place to let go of stress, worry, anxiety, and space to just pause and breathe. Spending a few minutes at the start of everyday to make a list of what truly needed to get done and an action plan of how to achieve it, provided clarity and calm as I could clearly see how I was going to tackle each project, or even more importantly – where I was going to ask for help.
I started to make the time each week to plan out nutritious meals, keeping my schedule in mind so that the meal prep was realistic for my schedule. Knowing what I was going to eat, ensured that I would have items thawed, stocked in the cupboards and fridge, or prepped ahead of time.
Making the time to sit in gratitude each and every day, released the “need” to take everything so personally or to fall victim to the challenges that life will throw your way. I chose to find the positive in each and everyday, and sometimes it was focusing on the things we often take for granted, such as receiving our next breath.
Planting the seeds of faith within myself, and within others through trusting in their ability to assist me when I reached out for help, has truly changed my perspective. Faith helped me understand that its not all about me! I can’t do it all, nor should I. I have learnt the tremendous value in reaching out for help, of learning to receive, and the joy that others experience through being recognized for their contributions in my life.
In this beautiful full moon energy, a time for letting go, I invite you to start planting your seeds of faith within yourself, others, and a higher power to support you on your journey of self-care.
If you have your own personal self-care story or tip that you would like to share – please leave a comment, and lets support each other in knowing we are all worthy of living the best life possible.
Lots of Love,
“If you're not reaching back to help anyone, then you're not building a legacy.” – Germany Kent
During one of the holidays, my youngest daughter decided to have a puzzle created from a family photo taken a few years back. This was of one of my favorite memories, capturing a time when the kids were younger and we were all together as a family.
For this particular photo, we had ventured along a pathway into the forest where the autumn leaves had created a beautiful canvas. We dressed as our casual selves, wearing blue jeans and sweaters that would compliment each other in the photo. Reflecting back on the photo shoot, makes me chuckle, as our oldest daughter is an amazing photographer, but for this particular shoot we had forgotten the remote clicker, and had to rely on someone racing against time to press the 10 second delay button and ease back into the frame. We had many laughs, comical photos, and were reminded of the joy of being all together and living in the moment.
Life isn’t always so carefree as we keep ourselves busy by just being busy. Sometimes we may find ourselves juggling so many moving pieces that we lose time altogether. There is a period in my own life where I found myself raising children, working full time, taking nighttime courses, running kids to dance lessons, sneaking in time to nurture a relationship with my spouse, and grabbing a few fleeting moments of free time enjoying friendships. I was an expert of time management in my career, and in getting things accomplished within the week for the family to function. But behind this illusion of having it all together, I was drowning and completely exhausted to the point where I have lost chunks of time in my life.
It is an impossible task to single handily keep all the pieces of life together, but yet many of us struggle through under the illusion that others may judge us if the work hasn’t been completed, the house left messy, and the ten thousand other excuses we come up with to justify the behaviour. Most of the time there is someone else that we can bring into the fold to help ease the burden, but we push them away again under an illusion that these are our jobs and if we can’t do it, then we must be incompetent. We forget that by accepting help, we honour the person who offered it and validate to them that we both appreciate and care. There is tremendous joy to be found in helping another person, sharing in some of the stresses, and turning mundane chores into moments spent in companionship. It is easy to be the one giving, but we need to learn to become equally as good at receiving, so that we can share this beautiful gift.
My daughters have all grown up now and have lives of their own, although we are still blessed to have some of them living under our roof as they complete their post-secondary journey. That 500 piece family photo took up space on the living room coffee table for over a month, as reality sank in of the difficulty of trying to piece together a moment of time when life was simple and carefree. It became an extremely difficult task putting together a puzzle where every piece had been carefully cut apart in a different shape, yet all the colors looked the same. I was on a mission to not give up, and found myself almost desperately at times trying to complete the puzzle, until the day I finally placed in the last piece of our family’s image. It dawned on me in that moment that what I was doing was making sure that our family was pieced back together. That it didn’t matter what the backdrop or craziness of life was to bring, for family would always be the glue that would hold my world together.
My family is my everything, and my legacy I hope to pass down to my children is to slow down. Stop trying to do it all. Stop trying to be perfect. Stop feeling as if you owe the world all the best pieces of yourself. I now lead by example, as actions truly speak much louder than words, and I’ve come to realize that no one will take your advice if your not being true to yourself. Change and empowerment starts with you first!
My greatest wish for all of us is to be the creator of our own lives, to follow our hearts and dreams and shoot for the stars! Make messes, have fun, dance in the rain, and just be perfectly imperfect in this journey of life.
Lots of love,
